Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, symptoms can include a cough, chest pain and breathlessness, and in some cases the infection can spread to other organs. In this touchRESPIRATORY interview, we speak with Dr. Veronique Suttels (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois, Lausanne, Switzerland) to discuss the strengths and limitations of point of care ultrasound as a triage tool for TB and the aims and methodology of the study analysing this.

The abstract entitled ‘Point-of-care thoracic ultrasound for the detection of pulmonary TB: intermediate analysis of a prospective cohort in Benin’ was presented at the World Conference on Lung Health, 8-11 November 2022.
