Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) includes lung conditions such as emphysema, and chronic bronchitis. It can cause shortness of breath, fatigue, and a persistent cough. As many as 30 million Americans have COPD, but approximately half of them remain undiagnosed. COPD is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States and the fourth leading cause of death worldwide.
The COPD Foundation’s mission is to help millions of people live longer and healthier lives by advancing research, advocacy, and awareness to stop COPD, bronchiectasis, and NTM lung disease. The Foundation does this through scientific research, education, advocacy, and awareness to prevent disease, slow progression, and find a cure.
