Brisbane, Australia, will host the 8th World Bronchiectasis Conference (WBC) from 14-17th July 2025, bringing together healthcare professionals, researchers and patients from around the globe to advance the understanding and treatment of bronchiectasis. The event is co-hosted by Lung Foundation Australia, the University of Queensland, and the Australian Bronchiectasis Consortium.
With a central theme of diversity and inclusivity, WBC 2025 will reflect the wide-ranging experiences of people living with bronchiectasis and the multidisciplinary teams involved in their care. The condition is known for its clinical complexity and affects a diverse global population, making it essential to approach research and treatment from a broad, collaborative perspective.
“A theme like diversity and inclusivity gives us the opportunity to shine a light on the unique experiences of people with bronchiectasis and the varied teams that care for them,” comments Dr Lucy Morgan, lung specialist, Chair of Lung Foundation Australia and convener for the 8th WBC.
Australia’s rich cultural heritage—home to the world’s oldest continuous living cultures in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples—adds meaningful context to the conference’s focus on equity and community-centred care.
The program will feature contributions from a wide array of international experts and regional voices, with strong representation from the fast-growing Asia-Pacific region. Alongside sessions for clinicians and researchers, the 2025 conference will include a robust program for patients and carers, many of whom have been involved in shaping its content.
“Innovation in bronchiectasis care requires collaboration across borders and disciplines,” said Mark Brooke, CEO of Lung Foundation Australia. “WBC 2025 is a chance to bring that global community together in Brisbane.”
In line with the team-based approach required to manage bronchiectasis, the conference will welcome nurses, allied health professionals, physiotherapists, and primary and tertiary care providers. The goal is to foster shared learning and encourage cross-disciplinary dialogue to improve outcomes for people living with this chronic lung condition.
Brisbane, a modern and multicultural city and host of the 2032 Olympic Games, will provide a vibrant setting for the conference. Organizers are encouraging attendees from across the world to take part in this unique event that champions collaboration, inclusivity, and patient-centred care.
